"SALVATION"

IT IS TIME YOU KNEW !

Real Life Begins Here!

By: Gary R. Kane

“GO, STAND IN THE TEMPLE COURTS,” HE SAID, “AND TELL THE PEOPLE ALL ABOUT THIS NEW LIFE.” ACTS 5:20

Friends, this message is for all of us. It is for those who have not yet made Jesus Christ Lord and Savior of their life. It is also for those, who have once come to the Lord Jesus Christ, but have "backslid" or "fallen away" from God. This message is also for those in the Church, that think they have a relationship with Jesus Christ, but have grown cold and complacent and indifferent, and have been deceived by religion, and false teaching.

THIS IS TRULY A MESSAGE FOR ALL OF US!

It is my desire, and earnest prayer, that you will take a moment to read the message here. Folks, Jesus is calling. He is "wooing" you unto Himself or you would not even be here at this moment in time. Jesus is calling; “Come unto me, come lay down the burden of sin, come let me break the yoke and bondage of slavery to the flesh and the devil.”

Time is short, and the Word of God says "Today is the day of salvation." Tomorrow is not promised to any of us!  Bring your sin and guilt and shame. Bring your burden and bondage, and come to Christ, the Lamb of God, who came to take away the sin of the world. He will change you. You will become a "new creature in Christ." You will have the power of God transform you, and the kingdom of God live within you.

ALRIGHT NOW, LET’S TAKE A GOOD LOOK!

First of all, we want to deal with "SALVATION" on a personal level. The question is NOT, do you go to Church?  It is NOT, did a godly family raise you in a Christian home?  It is NOT, do you do good deeds and   help those who are in need?  It is NOT, do you sing in the choir, or perhaps teach a Sunday school class, or, are you a Minister?  All these things may be good things within themselves.  But, the question is this:  Do you know Jesus Christ as YOUR Lord and Savior, and are you living for him with ALL your heart? Not relying on something you once said or did. Not relying on what some preach as “once saved always saved.” But do you truly know Jesus as your Lord? Do you love Him and obey His Word?

All the way back to the Garden of Eden, we see where Satan, masquerading as a serpent came to Eve.  Genesis 3:2-4. The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it or you will die.’” The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!”

Folks, that serpent Satan, is still speaking this lie through and to people everywhere. That is one reason Jesus said to His disciples, "be careful how you hear."  You see, the devil tried to convince Eve, (and he succeeded), that God could not be trusted.  That He really didn’t mean what He said!

He convinced Eve God was not faithful to His word. The devil said to her that ‘she surely would not die’ for disobeying God’s Word. Satan did all that he could to "discredit" God's Word so Eve would neither believe God nor fear Him or obey Him. He is still lying today, saying the same thing he said to Eve, you surely will not die!  Folks, make no mistake about it; if you continue in your sin, if you count the preaching of the cross as foolishness, God said you will die, and spend eternity in hell. Eve "bought the lie," and when sin entered in, so did death.

Friends, nothing has changed since that time so long ago. Man is "born into sin," and in need of The Savior, (who can only be Christ Jesus). And please know this, the Bible is clear, that there is NO other way you or I can be saved, but by the Lord Jesus Christ!

The Bible clearly tells us: Acts 4:12.. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

The Bible, the WORD OF GOD, makes it truly clear, that there is ONE TRUE GOD. The Bible tells us in the book of Ephesians 4: 5-6. "One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all...”

You see dear friend, we are NOT calling on the names of FALSE gods, such as Allah in Islam, or all the false gods of Hinduism, Buddhism, Mormonism, Jehovah Witness, or a thousand other names and false religions the devil has raised up. Neither are we to be saved by “the Church,” or some religious system, or bow our knee to statues, figures, icons, or place our faith hope or trust in a denomination or Priest, Pope, or the Catholic Church, or any Preacher or any other such things, as these are one form of IDOLATRY!

The Bible tells us in… I Corinthians 8: 4  ...We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and there is no God but one. For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live;  and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”

In other words, there are many things and names that people “call god, or lord," but there is only ONE TRUE GOD, ONE TRUE LORD, JESUS CHRIST!

Also, the devil and the flesh nature of man tell him all his life (until he makes Jesus Lord), that he is a pretty good fellow. After all, he hasn't really hurt anyone, and he minds his own business, and even if he has hurt some folks, so what, he is just protecting what is his, or thinks that the only way to get ahead in the world, is to step on the whole bunch and make it to the top, no matter who he hurts or what he does.  After all, he thinks to himself, "it's a dog eat dog world."  The devil whispers, "live for yourself, have a ‘me, my, I attitude,’ which is pride and selfishness, the character and nature of Satan himself.

Therefore, even if you think that you do not have a particular religious affiliation, you do! The religion of SELF! You see "the lie is still being listened to.” Oh, God doesn't see, the devil tells you, go ahead, if it feels good do it, if it helps you and promotes you, do it.  If it makes you look good go for it, the devil says.  Then he whispers to your fleshly nature, "you surely shall not die!”

Folks, our whole society has "bought the lie” from the White House to the poor house, and everywhere in-between.  We need the truth like never before. What will happen to me when I die? How can I know God and spend eternity in heaven with him? How do I make it now in these difficult days we face?  Well, it all begins and it all ends with Jesus! Folks we will share this, and more with you. It all has to start somewhere…  Let’s look.

First of all let’s face the fact that, WE ARE ALL SINNERS.

Isaiah 64:6 Tells Us:  “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.”

What is he saying here?  It is clear.  All, everyone without exception has sinned. He is also pointing out clearly to us that none, not one, of our good deeds has impressed God.  He said, "We all shrivel up." In other words, apart from Christ, we all have death working in us not life. And friends, notice what blows us away into that death, "OUR SINS." He says we are destroyed by sin. Sin separates us from Christ.

I John 1:8 Tells Us: “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, ( Eve was deceived in the garden by the devil ) and the truth is not in us.” (Emphasis Mine)  Again, we hear that no one is without sin. We cannot escape the voice of the scripture. If we claim to be without sin we are deceived. In other words, we are totally wrong with God. The sad part of deception is we don’t know we are deceived until we are confronted with the truth of the Word of God, and we think everything will turn out fine while we continue to walk our own way apart from knowing Christ. Romans 6:23 tells us:  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:9 tells us:  Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him.

Be saved from what, did he say? Here the apostle Paul is speaking to those who already know Christ. He is explaining to them that they should be glad and rejoice because they have been forgiven.  In other words, these people had come to, The Risen Living Christ, putting their faith in Him alone, and recognized their sins, repented, and turned to Jesus by faith, with all their heart, and because of His death on the cross and the shedding of His blood they found forgiveness.  He became the sacrifice for them, "saving them from the wrath of God." Only those who ‘have not’ come to Christ with ‘all their heart’ will experience death and hell.

Let us take just a moment at this point, and give you a "small idea," of what God calls sin. First of all, what God calls sin, is anything a person does that is "contrary" to, opposed to, and not in line with the teaching of the Word of God. We will name ‘only a few,’ to give you an idea and to show you that we all are guilty of sin and rebellion against a Holy God, and have broken His commandments.

Jealous, envy, anger, worry, greed, lust, malice, slander, stubbornness, murder, lying, stealing, pride, hate, bitterness, homosexuality, gossip, sexual immorality, strife, hording, material lust, cheating, arrogance, insolent, drunkard, vanity, ego, selfishness,  rebellious, rudeness, division, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unforgiving, brutal, evil desires, filthy language, adultery, fornication, bearing false witness. Folks, this is only a “small sample,” of what God calls sin!

Galatians 5:19-21: The Bible says: The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

So, you only need to have committed one sin in your life; that is enough. You are a sinner, in need of the Savior, Jesus Christ.  If your sins are ‘not on this list,’ please understand, even if you think you have lived a wonderful life, ‘the rejection of Christ as Lord,’ is all it takes to damn the soul. In fact, we were all born with the sinful fallen nature, but Christ died for those sins, and for every sin. The fact is God loves you and does NOT want you destroyed.

GOD LOVES YOU!

John 3:16 tells us: “For God so loved the world that, He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life…”

You say, “Oh, but if God loves me He will not send me to hell.”  Dear friend that is all part of "the lie" we have been talking about, remember?   The devil told Eve, go ahead and eat, no matter what God has said. "YOU SURELY SHALL NOT DIE." Yes, God does love you!  He loves you so much He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for you at the hands of sinners, so you and I would not die and stand before God on judgment day without Christ in our heart, and therefore be thrown into the lake of fire created for the devil and his angels. God wants you in heaven with Him. He loves you enough to tell you the truth and draw you with his cords of love into his heart, but he will not force you.  He will only call and "woo" you unto Himself. The choice to come to Him, to answer his call to you, ‘is entirely yours’.

Romans 5:8 tells us: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Friend, if you are waiting on God to do some super spectacular thing in your life to "prove" his love to you, you may have a long wait. What more could God do to prove to you that he really loves you and cares for you, than what he has already done? Has he not already given proof?  Shall we be like Eve and doubt the Word of God? I tell you Jesus Christ died and “ROSE AGAIN,” by the power of God. Put your Faith trust and hope, in the Risen Living Savior Jesus Christ, and you will be saved!

IT IS ALL GRACE! THIS TOO, IS GOD’S GREAT LOVE TO YOU!

Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us:
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith-- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.

Some call this grace "unmerited favor," and it most certainly is that to be sure. But, it is more than that.  Sunshine, rain, every breath we take is "unmerited."  In other words we do not deserve it!  So, grace is that, but, in its strongest sense can best be described as, "the power of God to stand, and keep his Commandments.”  We cannot save ourselves. Christianity is not based on “works” but grace! We cannot work our way into relationship with God.

We cannot work our way into salvation, or get to heaven by works. Jesus died for us on the cross and took away all our sin! The only way to God is through FAITH in His Son Jesus Christ!  It is finished!

John 3:3 tells us:  Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Romans 10:8 Says: …“The word is near you, it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is the word of faith we are proclaiming:

So then, instead of using long religious sounding words, or trying to come to Christ by works, and the flesh, or law, we can come directly to Christ ‘right now,’ by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

WILL YOU COME TO CHRIST RIGHT NOW?

Romans 10:9-10 Tells Us: That if you confess with your mouth, that "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Friend, this is the "bottom line." If you truly want Jesus Christ to take complete control of your heart and life, if you want to come to Christ and make Him Lord, then come now, believing and confessing, by faith, that Jesus is Lord, and that God raised him from the dead. Come to Him, while He is calling you. This is not a magic prayer, yet it must come from a sincere heart.

PRAY WITH ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART

JESUS I CONFESS YOU ARE LORD AND BELIEVE IN MY HEART GOD RAISED YOU FROM THE DEAD. I COME TO YOU NOW WITH ALL MY HEART. I CONFESS THAT I AM A SINNER. I REPENT OF ALL MY SINS AND ASK YOU TO FORGIVE ME. I ASK THAT YOU SAVE ME, HELP ME, GUIDE ME INTO ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS BY YOUR LOVING HOLY SPIRIT. I RENOUNCE ALL THE WAYS OF THE DEVIL AND HIS LIES. I ASK YOU JESUS TO SAVE ME AND BE LORD OF MY LIFE AND FILL ME AND BAPTIZE ME WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. THANK YOU, LORD JESUS, FOR SAVING ME, AND WASHING AWAY MY SINS WITH YOUR PRECIOUS BLOOD. HELP ME TO LIVE FOR YOU ALL OF MY LIFE BY YOUR GRACE AND POWER, IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.  AMEN!

“AFTER YOU HAVE PRAYED AND COME TO CHRIST”

We sincerely hope that you have given your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ by repenting of your sins and asking Him to come into your heart, and take control. If you have made this decision to make Jesus Lord and Savior, we say “Praise God!” Welcome to the family of believers in Christ! You have just entered into “REAL LIFE.” Now there are a few things we would like to share with you, things you  should know as you begin your walk with Jesus.

OBEYING GOD

The Bible says in:  2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.

James 1:22 tells us: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Folks the Bible tells us in: Titus 2:11-12. For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "NO" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.

Did you see that?  So once we come to Christ, the true grace of God that ‘brought us salvation,’ now works as a "tutor" in us, teaching us not only to love God with a whole heart, but to ‘obey him’ and live righteous lives free from the control of worldly passions and lust.

That my friend is true grace, the real grace, the amazing grace, the saving grace! You see, when you come to Jesus Christ with all your heart, through repentance, and you begin your walk with him, it is a walk of obedience to the Word of God. You do this because you love him. You do not go back and begin your life of sin again. Can a person still commit a sin after they have come to Christ?  Yes.

1 John 1:9 tells us: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

But you must understand, “you do not have to sin anymore.” His grace, as we submit to Him, teaches us to say NO to all sin and walk in purity with God, and this is “only possible,” by the power of his Holy Spirit living in us. We are saved by GRACE!  Nothing we can do. Christ has done it all!

GET IN THE WORD OF GOD

Psalms 119:11; Says." I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Now that you have come to Christ, you need to have a Bible, God's word to you. There are many available, but we recommend the following: The King James Version (KJV). The New American Standard Version, (NAS). The English Standard Version, (ESV).

Now Begin to Digest it. In other words Read. Read. Read. Drink it in, study it. As you read, pray as well. Talk to God, talk to Him about what you are reading. The Word of God should be read and studied, and obeyed.   The Bible will reveal the heart and will of God to you by the Holy Spirit and through prayer. Pray often, listen quietly. God wants to talk to you as well.

Joshua I:8  Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.

Proverbs 4: 20-22. My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body.

Psalm 119:105 says: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

II Timothy 2: 15 says: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

James I: 22 tells us: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

BE BOLD

Beloved, you need to make your decision to follow Christ, public. That is to say, let people know that you have given your heart to Jesus and have become a Christian. Tell your family and friends.   Don't be "ashamed or embarrassed" about what you have done in coming to Christ.  Be as open as you can be.  Let Christ live through you as a testimony of His grace and saving power. Find a Church that is not afraid to preach the whole truth, and stand up for Jesus Christ.

Get in a Church filled with the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Get in a Church that has the presence of God in their midst. A Church filled with the love of Christ, and the word of God is believed.

Romans I: 16-17 says:  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Psalm 138:3 says: When I called you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted.

FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS

Acts 2: 46-47 …They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Proverbs 24:1… Do not envy wicked men, do not desire their company.

Hebrews 3: 13 says:  But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

I Thessalonians 4: 18… Therefore encourage each other with these words.

PRAY, TALK WITH GOD

I Thessalonians 5: 17-18 says: Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Now that you are a child of God, you can go ‘directly to God’ in prayer. Prayer is "communication," with God.  It is “communion” with God. God wants you to come to Him. He wants to hear your heart, your voice. Cry out to Him, talk to Him often during the day and at night. Develop a desire, a love to be with Him in prayer.  This can only come by doing it!

Remember He loves you and wants to fellowship with you, and wants to reveal Himself to you.  Try opening your Bible to the book Psalms, and praying them out loud to the Lord.  You will find in doing this, that you won't get too far at a time until you find yourself stopping at a certain verse or chapter that seems to really "hit home" with you.  Cry out to the Lord there, pray the scripture "out loud," but remember, praying also means listening as well.  You see, God wants to speak to you too.

He wants to reveal things to you, and teach of Himself-so make sure you learn to develop a "hearing ear," for the Lord's voice.

Ephesians 6: 18 says: And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Philippians 4: 6… Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.

YOU HAVE NEED TO BE BAPTIZED

Water baptism should be the initial act of obedience for the new believer. Water baptism does NOT save you. You are saved by grace, through repentance of sin, and trusting by faith, in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and the cleansing power of his precious blood at the cross. At that moment of conversion, (making Christ Lord), we are baptized, “by God,” into the body of Christ ‘spiritually’. The apostle Paul tells us: Romans 6:3-4. Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the father, we too may live a new life. This then, is our “spiritual” baptism, immersion, union into Christ.

Now, as for “water baptism,” It is an outward sign, of that inward ‘spiritual work’ we just saw,  identifying the believer with Christ, in His death, burial, and resurrection.  Water baptism, showing ‘outwardly’, as a testimony, of that inward work in us. The Greek word for baptism means to be ‘totally immersed.’ Not sprinkled or any other such non-scriptural practice. When you bury something, it goes "down under," it is covered up completely.  And so, with water baptism as well, going under the water symbolizes our being dead to sin, buried with Christ. Then coming up out of the water, symbolizes that we’re alive with Christ, in his resurrection power, and raised with him, in newness of life. Water baptism always follows "true repentance and faith in Christ.” Again, water baptism does NOT save us, and is not an option. It’s obedience to the Word of God.

Matthew 28:19. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…

Acts 18: 8 says: Crispus the synagogue ruler, and his entire household believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.  Acts 2: 41… those who accepted his message, were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.  Folks, you see, ‘believing’ always precedes water baptism!

A BAPTISM OF HOLY FIRE

Matthew 3: 11"I baptize you with water for repentance. ( actually, ‘because of repentance’).  But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."  (Emphasis Mine).

Mark 1:8...  I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1: 8… Jesus said, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 2: 3 says: They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Beloved, it is very clear from the word of God that there is “another baptism." A baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire!  When you came to Christ and were saved, He filled you with the Holy Spirit. Now, that the Holy Spirit has come in you, Christ wants the ‘fullness’ of the Holy Spirit's power to come ‘upon you’, as we have seen from the scriptures above ( Acts 2: 3 ).   The initial evidence of the Holy Spirit baptism ‘according to scripture’ is speaking in tongues. This is “not why" we ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but is the ‘initial evidence’. The ‘continued evidence’ is a love walk bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Also, the baptism of the Holy Spirit gives us a better understanding of the word of God, and the heart of God, a clearer revelation of who He is, and the desire to obey Him completely. The Holy Spirit comes ‘upon us’ to anoint us and to empower us for service to Him, to be powerful witnesses for Christ. Not only to be stirred to use the "gifts" of the Holy Spirit, but the fire of God working in us and upon us as we submit to Christ, begins to "burn away” everything that is unlike Jesus.  It is the very presence and power of God to walk with Him in an overcoming life, in obedience to him, and walk in His holiness and righteousness.

Jesus said in Luke 11: 13, "If you then, though you are evil, (by nature), know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him."

It is a simple matter of asking by Faith.

“Lord Jesus, I see here what your Word says, and I ask you to baptize me in the Holy Spirit and fire right now.  I want to walk in the power of God, and I ask that you stir the gifts and anointing of the Holy Spirit in me that I may serve you in all your fullness and power. I ask that your Holy Fire continually burn out of my life everything that is not like you Jesus, as I submit and yield my heart to you in all my ways and walk. Thank you Lord for your Holy Fire, in Jesus name Amen.”
